Our movement started on February 14th, 2014 when we called ourselves GAMeS-Gerakan Ayu Menanaman Sayur (Eng: Planting Vegetables Movement). This movement was founded by Mr. Edi Gunawan as a farm activist coordinator. We started small action in few activity spots in Semarang City focused on community farming promotion as an alternative for urban society healthy lifestyle. It aimed to full fill veggie nutrition need for domestic purposes. Our first activity center located at Kembangarum for our community farming pilot project & Mijen for our organic farming pilot project.
Nowadays, Bhumi Horta Foundation has 4 project sites in Central Java: Kendal Green Leadership Project in Kendal Region, Semarang Urban Farming Project in Semarang City, Tengaran Permaculture Project in Ungaran Region, & Karimunjawa Mangrove Project in Karimunjawa Island.
We focus on 3 main programs on 2019: UFarm Learning Center, Youth Learning Center, & Eco-Smart Xchange.
